A PLACE FOR EVERY PIECE: LANCASTER’S LIVING QUILT
An installation for Art at Amtrak at the Lancaster Train Station

DEAR LANCASTER,

We’re thrilled to invite you, your friends, and your family to be part of an extraordinary public art project coming to the Lancaster Amtrak Station.  Alongside large-scale window designs for the station’s concourse,  local artists Libby Modern and Jill Good will be creating a community quilt and display made of fabric and stories from Lancaster residents.

We want YOU to be part of this exciting project.
Through early October, we are seeking contributions of textiles and fabrics that hold special personal or cultural significance. Each piece will be carefully incorporated into a grand quilt, accompanied by the story behind it.Your contribution will help create a stunning display at the Lancaster Amtrak Station, reflecting the vibrant spirit of our city.

What to Submit:
T-shirts or other garments, Household linens, Flags, Cloth from your country of origin, Ceremonial garments, uniforms, Handkerchiefs, Tote bags— all just examples. Submissions needn’t be a whole garment— pieces 3” x 3” or larger are all acceptable. Submitted textiles will be cut up and cannot be returned. Every piece submitted will be incorporated into the community quilt.

Share Your Story:
Along with your textile, we invite you to share who you are, and a memory or story connected to your submission.

Where to contibute:
Attend one of our community workshops where you can create a piece of work inspired by the project, or just stop in with your submission and tell us about yourself. You can also find one of our submission stations around the city where you can drop off your textile at your convienence. Visit www.itsmodernart.com/quilt to find a location near you.
